This module explains wills as your clear plan for how your assets and values will be handled after you’re gone. You’ll learn what a will is and who’s involved (the person making the will, the executor, and the beneficiaries), why having one prevents state‑driven decisions and family disputes, and the simple steps to draft and periodically update your own will—so that your possessions and personal wishes are carried out exactly as you intend.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, students will:
- Define a Will & Key Roles: Explain what a will is, and identify the testator, executor, and beneficiaries.
- Articulate Why Wills Matter: Describe how a will honors personal wishes, avoids state‑led asset division, and prevents conflicts over sentimental items.
- Outline the Creation Process: List and organize your assets, choose an executor and guardians if needed, and understand the importance of updating your will as circumstances change.
- Apply Legacy Planning Principles: Use clear instructions to ensure both material and sentimental assets are distributed according to your values.
